The Wanderer’s Guide to Interrailing Across Europe

If you are someone that is looking for a holiday, then you may have considered interrailing. Thanks to Europe’s vast railway system, it is possible to travel throughout Europe via train. This is a great option for people who want to really explore and do not want to stay in the same place for too long, as with interrailing you are expected to only spend a few days at a time in one country so that you can really get to know the country well.

If interrailing is something that you may be interested in, then you may be wanting to learn more. Interrailing isn’t as straightforward as just booking a ticket and heading off like a normal holiday and so here are some tips that you should follow in case you do consider interrailing.

Don’t go alone

As tempting as a solo holiday may be, we recommend that you go with at least one more person when you decide to go. Though for the most part, you will be completely safe when you are away, there is no knowing what could happen during the travelling process. There is the possibility that you could become the victim of a robbery or an assault, but as they say- there is safety in numbers.

Unfortunately, there are some people out there that look to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists and if someone sees you walking around alone with a large collection of bags and no means of protection, then you could be easily targeted.

As well as travelling in numbers offering a certain degree of safety, travelling with someone makes the travelling much funnier. You get to experience a whole new culture with one of your closest friends or even your partner. It is also much more convenient for little things such as someone running off to the bathroom and someone else watching your bags and just having someone to support you while you are away.

Bring tools to help you sleep

When interrailing there will be a lot of occasions where you will need to fall asleep on the train and that can be uncomfortable if you are someone that does not find it easy to fall asleep in public, then you may find yourself in a position where you are simply not getting enough sleep which could ruin your travelling experience as absolutely nobody likes to travel while exhausted.

The first thing that we recommend that you take with you is a travel pillow. Even a small travel pillow can make all the difference when it comes to getting the necessary support to allow you to get comfortable enough to sleep. Trains can also get extremely loud and so we recommend that you take a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones with you. This way you can get the chance to sleep when the train is quite busy. We also recommend that you take something that helps you fall asleep easily. Something that people commonly use is cbd oil, which can be vaped or simply taken as an oil. CBD oil has been known to relax the body and can encourage you to fall asleep in loud and difficult situations.

Try hostels

As well as spending time sleeping on the train, you are going to need to book accommodation during your travel period. There are only so many times that you can fall asleep on a train and you will need to find some comfort in a good bed and someone with access to a shower.

Hotels can be extremely expensive and if you plan on passing through a few countries then you are going to need to book a few hotels. This is why we recommend that you get a hostel as they cost a margin of the price and are very flexible in terms of booking.

Travelling is all about meeting new people and making memories and a great thing about hostels is that you can easily make a lot of new friends, which you may even be able to meet up with while travelling in the future. You can get a lot of recommendations from seasoned travellers that you meet in hostels too, which can only improve your travelling experience.
